Castaic Lagoon (Lower Lake)

Castaic Lagoon is the lower recreation lake, not the big bass reservoir. Shoreline access, a fishing pier near the campground, and a put-and-take trout and catfish program make it the family half of the complex. Largemouth live here too, but this is not where the trophy-bass reputation was built. Park hours and the no-fishing-from-docks rule still apply. Check on-site signs for any lagoon-specific bass posting; do not assume the upper-lake 15-inch rule without reading it.

What you'll find here

The lower recreation lake below the dam — family fishing, often stocked. Not the same basin as the upper lake.

Regulations reminder

Size limits, bag limits, seasons, and MPA rules are set by CDFW and can change in-season. Public-pier license exceptions (CCR 1.88) apply only on qualifying structures — not on the beach next to them. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with CDFW.
