Cabrillo Mole, Catalina Island

The concrete mole next to the Avalon ferry landing is a surprisingly serious fishing platform: current, depth, and bait stacked against a wall. Calicos and halfmoon are the regulars; yellowtail and bonito crash it in warm water. You can fish it on a day ferry without renting a skiff, which is why it belongs on an LA-angler map.
